But in the course of scope-creeping \u003ca title=\"JumperlOS\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Architeuthis-Flux\/JumperlOS\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eJumperlOS\u003c\/a\u003e into a full blown operating system, there have been certain features that I've found are only really possible with more (fast) memory to work with.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThings like having an onboard logic analyzer are really only constrained by how much memory you have and how quickly you can write to it. So capture rates and sample depth are directly determined by how much RAM it has available (I did some crazy stuff with \u003ca title=\"DMA ping pong buffer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ti.com\/lit\/sd\/slaae84b\/slaae84b.pdf?ts=1770046231918\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eDMA ping-pong buffers\u003c\/a\u003e to get \u003ca title=\"JulseView\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Architeuthis-Flux\/julseview\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eJulseView\u003c\/a\u003e \u003cem\u003ekinda\u003c\/em\u003e working without the extra RAM, but it was never stable enough to consider it a real feature.)\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe biggest benefit here is to give the \u003ca title=\"Jumperless micropython interpreter\" href=\"https:\/\/jumperless-docs.readthedocs.io\/en\/latest\/08-micropython\/\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eonboard MicroPython interpreter\u003c\/a\u003e a \u003cem\u003eton \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003c\/em\u003eof room for activities and do all its behind-the-scenes magic to run huge scripts. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eIdk, I'm \u003cem\u003econstantly\u003c\/em\u003e writing new firmware updates so there will be a bunch of cool features coming out in the future that'll need this extra RAM to work. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eDon't read this as some paywalled cash grab, Jumperless V5 was designed within a week of the RP2350 coming out, before there was really much mention of PSRAM support as a new feature (I hereby blame Paul Beech from \u003ca title=\"Pimoroni\" href=\"https:\/\/shop.pimoroni.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"\u003ePimoroni\u003c\/a\u003e for not breaking his NDA on the RP2350 with Raspberry Pi while we got drunk together at \u003ca title=\"Teardown 2026\" href=\"https:\/\/www.crowdsupply.com\/teardown\/portland-2026\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eTeardown\u003c\/a\u003e 2024), I \u003cem\u003ewould\u003c\/em\u003e have just put a PSRAM chip on the Jumperless V5 and wouldn't need to go through all this trouble to squeeze out some extra performance. The files are \u003ca title=\"PSRAM mod on github\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Architeuthis-Flux\/JumperlessV5\/tree\/main\/Jumperless23V50\/PSRAMmod\" target=\"_blank\"\u003ehere\u003c\/a\u003e, and you can totally just send these off to JLCPCB and make it yourself, or \u003ca title=\"Dead bugged PSRAM\" href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/did:plc:6x7xpdwu36eshlbnuigk52lq\/post\/3mdk6dcb6cc2r\" target=\"_blank\"\u003ejust dead-bug a PSRAM chip\u003c\/a\u003e off a \u003ca title=\"PGA 2350\" href=\"https:\/\/shop.pimoroni.com\/products\/pga2350?variant=42092629229651\" target=\"_blank\"\u003ePGA2350\u003c\/a\u003e like I'm doing right now before the boards arrive. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eInstallation\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis thing is \u003cem\u003emildly\u003c\/em\u003e tricky to install, but if you own a soldering iron, this is \u003cstrong\u003eabsolutely\u003c\/strong\u003e doable in ~30 minutes. I will include some \u003ca title=\"gootwick solder wick\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B005EJ7JLU\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eexcellent solder wick\u003c\/a\u003e, \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/KESTER-SOLDER-32117-24-6040-0027-Diameter\/dp\/B00068IJPO\" title=\"Kester Solder\"\u003esolder\u003c\/a\u003e, and some alcohol prep pads for removing the flux. Worst case, if you fuck it up so badly that you break something, the infinite warranty on your Jumperless V5 means you can just let me know and I'll arrange shipping for your Jumperless and PRSAM mod kit back to me, and I'll send it back installed, tested, and ready to go for no charge. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf you order a Jumperless V5 from me and a mod kit in the same cart, I'll assume you want it pre-installed and just do it for you unless you say otherwise.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eReturn service\u003c\/strong\u003e means I'll email you a shipping label, you print it out and use it to ship me your Jumperless, then I'll install the mod and ship it back.
